Flamingo Fun

TH once told me I looked like/reminded him of a flamingo. Must be my posture. It's no Megan Fox, but I'll take it.

Since then, I've been, ohmygawd, I love flamingos. Come to our house and you'll see this print in our entry.

In the recent years, I think flamingos have made quite the not-so tacky comeback.

This print by Cozamia is so cool.

Happy Wednesday!

Werqin'

Here's some items I put together for a living room I started working on. Client already has a lot of the furniture pieces, they just need some refinishing and some reupholstery work. Doing the transitional thing again. I want it to feel casually sophisticated.

Nichole's timing couldn't have been more perfect. She recently posted about this amazing artist (Frances Seward) and that's where I found the art I used in this board. Throwing in some modern elements to make it all feel current.

Back to work I go.

Happy Tuesday!

Lean Back

First off, I'm sick (that's where you come in and give me your feel betters just the way sick people wanna hear after they tell you they're sick). I don't typically sway on the side of ineedattention. I said typically, but I've always kinda had a thing for sickness sympathies. You tell people you're sick and like all of a sudden they wanna do stuff for you. TH says, Here, I'll make you some tea and I'm like, Great idea. You're so smart. Ugh, my body feels achy. TH: Should I rub your back? Me: Yes. Can you play with my hair too? Pretending you're Being sick is also a great excuse to act extra lazy. I can't get outta bed, I'm sick. I can't change my clothes, I'll get the rest of my clothes sick. Shower? It's cold. No energy, no gym. Fine, I'll get outta bed, but I should still lie down so I'll lie on the sofa in front of the television. For hours. I can't make dinner, I'll cough in the food. We should probably order takeout.

Then a friend invites you to a party at a place you've wanted to go and you think lying in bed all day was the best idea because now you feel betterrrrr. So seriously, I'm getting legit sick and I tried fighting it all weekend and now I'm coughing every 3.2 seconds 'cause my mucus is trying to get out. That's hot.

It always confused me when people would refer to cool things as sick. Sick is never cool. Like, Dude your jacket is sick. Uh, then I should probably take it off. It might be contagious. Makes no sense.

In non sick/cool related news, I bring to you today's post.

I really like this look of, let me just lay this frame on this piece of furniture like I didn't intend to and just left it there while I went to grab a hammer and some nails.

Lovely lady leans back. So leans back.

You following?

This is such a great tactic.

Save yourself the trouble of patching up holes caused by mismeasuring and just start leaning.

Lean on top of lean (extra lean) for a layered look.

Try this at home.

And Happy Hanukkah to any Jewette readers I may have.

As an honorary Jewess,  I will be donning my Star of David necklace TH gave me for Christmas a few years ago.

Happy Tuesday!

ArtfuLL

Oh Monday, why do you keep showing up? Nobody likes you. You're the uninvited guest to Friday and Saturday's party.

{sigh}

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and weekend. Our last batch of leftovers runs out today. It was nice eating you, mini turkey sandwiches. We'll hang out again next year. Bring your friends, gravy and cranberry.

I did manage to get some me shopping in on Friday. Thankfully online where I didn't need to get out of my pajamas until after noon. Like 6, so more like evening.

I even bought a little sumthin' sumthin' for our living room.

Art. From the 60s.

And I bought it for 10 dollars from our neighborhood yard sale while I was walking the dogs.

Pretty groovy, huh?

A Different Kind of Wallpaper

Isn't this wallpaper beautiful?

Would you believe if I told you it was made out of stickers?

Thousands of stickers individually placed to make this elaborate design?

Yup, true. Swear.

The coolest thing I did with my Lisa Frank stickers was place them on my trapper keeper.

Payton Cosell Turner is the brilliant mind behind this cheeky yet sophisticated idea.

She also creates hand-drawn and screen-printed wallpapers.

this is a close up of a hand-drawn design.

This is a multi-media exhibit Payton and her fiance Brian did in 2009.

Here are some close-ups in case you still don't believe me.

Impressive stuff we got here.

Happy Wednesday.

I'm gonna go check on my sticker collection.

A Vintage Poster

I like the cutesy stuff. I've tried to grow out of that phase, but I figure, why push it. I like what I like.

{a} Vintage Poster is a company full of cute and affordable artwork. I like affordable too. I have not tried to grow out of that.

Check out what they got for me us.

What do I name him? the best name gets to pet him. :)

And just so you know, these prints come in different colors and they do custom work. And there's more to choose from, but these were my favorites. And they have a deal going on. And you can check them out here. And...just kidding.

Ciao!

I'm An Art Collector

Unfortunately only on the blog for now.

My latest collection comes from (I believe) Spanish artist Javier Martin.

His distinct stile combines paintings and photographs, and

"He is known as an artist who covers the eyes of all his models in his Blindness Collection, as a way to show the intention to make us see beyond the pictures."

As you can see, the woman plays a fundamental role in his art.

His muse? There's only one, he says. His girlfriend.

Vale!

Happy Tuesday.

I Like Your Art: Lara Harwood

It's time I start saving my pennies (more like dollars) and buy real art.

We don't have much wall space in our house, but I can certainly make room for art by Lara Harwood.

Super cool to the max.

Lots more here.

Enjoy your day!

Full-On Monet

From far away it's okay, but up close it's a big old mess.

Quote from?

I'm putting this piece in the Good Shepard project I've been working on for the past two months.

It's a charity project for a women's shelter.

Thirty designers were selected to design a room for (formerly) homeless women to live in while they get back on their feet.

Inspiring.

You can read my interview about how I got involved with the project here.

Today's my last day of installation.

I hope to share photos soon.

Hasta mañana!

And to the artist I ripped off, sorry. It's for charity, right?

https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2215/5755121345_e33ecd289a.jpg

I'm inspired by this lookseasyenoughtorecreate black and white art.

I'm attempting to do my own. Today.

I've got my canvas, paint and washed my brushes.

Once completed, I'll take a picture (from afar) and (maybe) share.

If it comes out spectacular, I'll make more and sell them for a million dollars.

Payment upfront.

Happy Tuesday!
