Light Up

I have a thing for candles. Even more than their scent, I think I mostly just like the variety of designs they come in. They're great for styling on a coffee table, bookcase, vanity and are extra useful in the bathroom.

They're the perfect gift for someone you don't know that well but still want to show you put in some effort.

This holiday season, if you're unsure of what to gift that colleague, secret santa, neighbor, hostess, babysitter, drug dealer (just kidding), below are some statement candles that they may even want to keep long after it's burnt out. No.5 is ideal for stashing whatever it is you need to stash. Two and four work for holding makeup brushes, pencils, even simple flowers.

Adore Home

Earlier last week I was contacted by the founder and creator of Adore Home Magazine asking if I would like to participate in the magazine's blog loving feature.

I would've responded with a, hell yeah but that didn't seem very professional. So instead I quickly emailed her back and said I'd love to.

I was asked to gather ten things I'm currently loving and give a brief description as to why I love them.

The issue went live last night (Australia time) and was happy to see that it was actually their special California edition I was participating in.

I put all my ten picks together for you, although if you read the magazine, only five were selected for the feature.

painting // chandelier // purse (the one I picked is now sold out) // brass crab // nail lacquer

cheetah stools // boots // pillow // headboard // chest

And here is how it looks in the mag.

Go check it out. It's full of color and inspiration, and if you're from California or LA specifically, I think you'll really enjoy each write up.

And shout out to my blog bud Erika whose house got and 18 page spread, photographed by my other girl Sabra.

Read it all here.

Happy Tuesday!

Looking Good, IKEA

I got the new IKEA catalog the other day and found a few new pieces to be pretty cool.

Items that don't look like they're going to fall apart right away.

I think that emerald swivel chair is my favorite. It comes in two more colors but the emerald just feels a bit more zexy, dare I say. Pair it with another one and they're ready for cocktails.

The sideboard is also very clean and minimal, and I love the elevated legs.

The rug is a total steal. Great price for a great design and color. I actually just used the brown version for a budget project.

The glass cabinet can be used in a variety of ways. I'd love to use it to display shoes and purses. But the more practical me would probably use it for dishes and bowls.

I just bought these glasses too. I love the color, and I mean, talk about bargain. They were looking at me like, if you don't buy me, you're dumb.

Again, pretty color. For a starter sofa, don't be basic and buy something fun. This color is so soft and soothing it can easily be paired with an array of pieces to give you one stylish pad. Did I just say pad?

Happy Thursday!

Arianna Belle

A quick and easy way to give your home a little update is by switching out your accent pillows. By bringing in some color and pattern, they're a simple solution for a fresher look.

For many of you, this probably isn't news but there is still a perctange of you who may not yet know about my friend Arianna's pillow site, Arianna Belle the shop.

I still remember the day she mentioned this new endeavour and now her pillow business has been featured on countless blogs and online magazines. Her pillows have taken off, to say the least.

Made to order with high quality to-the-trade fabrics, her site is a great source for those wanting a designer look.

She's one of my go-tos when looking for throw pillows and I always get a kick out of playing with the endless pillow combinations.

Here's a snippet of what you'll find and some combos I've been having fun with.

Happy (chic) Tuesday!

Lulu & Georgia - My Picks

Tonight, Lulu & Georgia is hosting an intimate blogger dinner and I was one of the few bloggers to have been invited.

I've been a fan of their home decor online boutique since it launched back in October. Their stylish furnishings and accessories have definitely been making the rounds in the blogosphere but today I felt it most appropriate to share some of my favorite items.

From cool art, to furniture, accessories and rugs (helloooow rugs), there's something for everyone. Their styles are even broken down for you. Are you a Glamour Girl, Romantic, Girl on a Budget, Bohemian?

This and much more on their site. A must check.

Happy Monday!

Project Sofa

I'm happy to share I was one of 11 designers picked by Society Social to participate in their Project Sofa.

The task was fun, simply take their new, white upholstered Charlotte sofa and style it in a way that expresses your design aesthetic. You know I went with colorful and cute. The newest lookbook launched yesterday and I was excited to see who the other designers were as well as their designs. It's always interesting to see the variety of options displayed when given the same blank canvas, one sofa - eleven completely different looks.

I highly suggest you check it out to see the array of color, pattern and styles created by a great round-up of designers. A little Monday morning inspiration if you will. You'll also get to read a little Q and A with each of the designers.

On an even cooler note, I also had the opportunity to create my own pillow to use in my design and have it featured on Society Social's site for sale.

Buy yours today. Or tomorrow, or the next. My family is all getting one for Christmas. Maybe.

Check it out here!

I went with Quadrille's Zen Charcoal to tone down all the color. A touch of black always adds some drama. The scratch pattern felt a little feisty and contrasted against the quirky heart and floral pattern.

And to add more distraction to your day, you HAVE to check out Style Me Pretty Home for a chance to win a $150 giftcard to shop Society Social. All you have to do is vote for your favorite styling and you'll be entered to win.

Hurry, go. Tell your boss you need to take a break.

Happy Monday!

Copper and Wool

Traditionally, copper and or wool is the 7th wedding anniversary gift.

I share this with you because as of today TH and I have been married for SEVEN.YEARS. Whhhhaaa?

Did someone press the fast forward button? How do seven years just fly by?

It wasn't always a walk in the park. In fact, it started off like an intense hike on a bumpy path with no water. But now I feel like I'm almost qualified to give marriage advice. Like, girl, you're always right. Kidding.

We've never kept to the wedding anniversary gift chart, but this year I was curious to see what we could've bought each other.

TH said we're ahead of the game because we already installed our copper plumbing. And I was like, we're behind because year five I could've pushed to refinish our wood floors.

So if you're coming up on seven years, here's a little copper and wool gift guide:

copper chair // women's wool sweater // copper bicycle // men's wool sweater // copper gardening tools // copper pan // wool socks

Happy Anniversary Monday!

Table Lamps

I'd say table lamps are my favorite home accessory. They really turn me on. Hey-o. Geek joke.

In all seriousness though, you should have fun with table lamps. Ones with unique bases create more interest. And for those who are scared to go with color on their walls, can bring in some color via their lamps, base or shade. If you love the base but aren't crazy about the shade, don't forget those are swappable. The best thing about table lamps is, you can put them in any room. I've even seen people put them in their kitchen. No joke.

Below are a few I think are really cool. The owl one is only $47! Talk about personality.
